Inspirational Stories for Children
You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be--
I had a mother who read to me.
--Strickland Gillilian
One of the greatest things my mother instilled in me as a child was a
love of reading. I well remember going to the library each week and
coming home with bags overflowing with books. I remember my mom reading
stories to us as children and I remember checking out
loads of books that I loved to read myself. I was quite a book-worm
growing up and I am delighted that my ten year old daughter has the same
love for reading that I did.
Reading is an excellent time not only for cuddling and bonding, but also
for teaching the great values of life. My mom took great care in
choosing books that carried wonderful messages of honesty, service,
obedience and other values. This was a perfect time for numerous
discussions about all sorts of topics.
Take the time to read to your children! Even if they are old enough to
read themselves, they still love hearing a great book from the mouth of
their mother or father. Listening to you read is one of the best ways to
get your children excited about reading.
We have a tradition in our home where either mom or dad reads a long
book (chapter book) to the kids each night. We usually read two or
three chapters a night until we finish the book and then we start a new
one.

If you would like a book with stories that teach values but don't have
time to search through titles at your library, then you can even access
books on the Internet. Here is an example of a book that you can
