September 18 - 20, 2009
All tours and presentations will be in ASL. No interpreters will be available.
The Red Cliffs Deaf Branch Conference late registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Snow Canyon Seminary Building and dinner will follow at 5:30 p.m.
This year, our theme is "Your Future is as Bright as Your Faith."
This quote was given by President Thomas S. Monson in the April 2009
General Conference. Ron Burdett, our keynote speaker, will
address this topic and teach us how we can learn from the faith of
the pioneers and apply it into our own circumstances today. Brother
Burdett has worked in various educational positions including
Professor and Dean of Deaf Studies and Special Services at Ohlone
College in Fremont, California. Brother Burdett has also served as
President of the California Association Post-Education of the
Disabled which oversaw 107 community colleges, eight California
State Universities, and three Universities of California. Brother
Burdett holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Studies and Accounting
from Gallaudet University in addition to a Master's degree in
Special Education and Rehabilitation from California State
University, Northridge. He has served in various branch
presidencies for sixteen years including serving as branch
president. He is an outstanding teacher, so come ready to
learn!
After
we conclude Friday's dinner and presentation, those who are
interested in seeing the Broadway play
"Annie" at Tuacahn,
may do so.
Tuacahn and the Southern Utah Center for the Deaf have arranged for
interpreters to be at Tuacahn this night for those who wish to see the play
"Annie" performed in the spectacular outdoor amphitheatre.
A group discount has been arranged for only $10 a ticket. This is a
huge discount. Ticket prices are
not included in your registration fee.
Please contact
Danny Radford from SUCD for more information.
